Galle Fort

According to Wikipedia, the Galle Fortress, built in 1663 by the Dutch, is a world heritage as well as the old town. It is the largest preserved European fortress in South Asia and combines European architectural elements with Asian traditions. It is surrounded by a rampart construction with a total of 14 bastions. Granite stones and corals were used for the construction.
With its many boutiques, restaurants and old colonial-style cafés, it is a mysterious look back to the past.

Unfortunately, these fascinating animals are at risk of extinction. The Koggala Sea Turtle Hatchery is dedicated to the conservation of sea turtles. A visit provides an insight into the important work they do. For a small fee, you can release some of the baby turtles into the ocean yourselve.
